Unsafe conduct, but BHP worker harshly dismissed

The Fair Work Commission has ruled the dismissal of a mine worker was harsh, despite his failure to acknowledge unsafe conduct.

In the same week the confined space accident that claimed three deaths in a rural NSW property, three labourers die cleaning in a manhole in Mumbai.

A husband, wife and brother were found dead inside a water tank on a rural NSW property. They were killed yesterday after entering a tank that had filled up with poisonous fumes on their property in Gunning, around 60km north of Canberra.

At about 6 p.m. last Saturday, first responders were dispatched for a confined space rescue in Walker Township, US.

According to dispatch, the man was trapped in a silo, 50 feet from the ground.

On Tuesday 13th September 2016, the ARAA Board of Directors passed a motion to change current pre-requisites for ARAA level 2 and 3 assessments.

The minimum requirement to have a current First Aid Certification before a candidate can sit a level 2 or 3 assessment has been repealed.

This change is EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATE as of 15 September 2016.
